Information for Voters

Voter Eligibility

Individuals can vote in the Division 2 by-election if they:

  • are at least 18 years old;
  • are a Canadian citizen;
  • are a resident of Division 2 of Sturgeon County on election day (September 17, 2019);
  • have presented acceptable identification; and
  • have not already voted in the by-election.

Voter Identification

In order to vote, an individual must produce one piece of authorized identification that establishes both name and current residential address. This includes:

  • Photo identification issued by a Canadian government or agency, whether federal, provincial or local;
  • Bank/credit card statement or personal cheque;
  • Correspondence issued by a school, college or university;
  • Government cheque or cheque stub;
  • Income/property tax assessment notice;
  • Letter from a public curator, public guardian or public trustee;
  • Pension Plan statement of benefits, contributions or participation;
  • Residential lease or mortgage statement;
  • Statement of government benefits: e.g. Employment insurance, old-age security, social assistance, disability support, or child tax benefit
  • Utility bill: e.g. Telephone, television, electricity, gas or water
  • Vehicle ownership, registration or insurance certificate; or
  • A letter of form (attestation) confirming that the person lives at the stated address.
